The slide valve contains a piston (3) which is attached to a control section (12) of smaller diameter. The length of this is smaller than the gap (A) between the valve inlet and outlet (4, 5). A second wide section at the far end of the piston has a peripheral groove (16) at a distance (K1) from the end of the control section which is less than the diameter of the inlet and outlet and connects them when they are blocked by the piston.
