PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably display a high-quality elastic image at any arbitrary time phase in the elastic image diagnosis. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe has an automatic pressing means, which is structured to press a diagnosed section of a subject with a prescribed pressure by moving in the direction perpendicular to the contact surface of the subject. Accordingly, a pressing stage can be automatically moved vertically in a fixed direction at a desired constant speed, so that high-quality elastic image data can be obtained at an arbitrary hour.
