PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which has stable chargeability and sensitivity, ensures less fluctuation in charge potential or residual potential, prevents the occurrence of image defects such as black spots and moire, and can produce an electrophotographic image of high image density, in a high temperature and high humidity environment and in a low temperature and low humidity environment, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the electrophotographic photoreceptor, an image forming method and a process cartridge. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor having an interlayer and a photosensitive layer on an electroconductive substrate, the interlayer comprises a resin having heat of fusion of 0-40 J/g and a water absorption of≤5 mass% and an N-type semiconductive particle containing 100 ppm to 2.0 mass% of a transition metal.
