PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin a recorder with a simple mechanism, and to solve the problem wherein an arm becomes an obstacle when viewing a record, concerning a recorder for a physical quantity. SOLUTION: This recorder is equipped with this flat recording medium 6 wherein one surface is a record writing surface 6b and the other surface is a record viewing surface 6a, a recording pen part 3 for recording the physical quantity on the record writing surface 6b, and a recoding medium driving part 7 for moving the recording position on the recording medium 6 relatively to the recording pen part 3, while keeping the record viewing surface 6a visible by a user. The recording medium 6 includes a transparent base material exposed to the record viewing surface 6a side and a recording layer for covering the transparent base material from the record writing surface 6b side.
