PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which reproduces information from a hologram type optical recording medium at a relatively fast speed. SOLUTION: A recording and reproducing device 10 conducts recording of information to a hologram type optical recording medium 1 and reproducing of information from the medium 1. The device 10 is provided with a light source 11, first and second image sensors 13a and 13b in which a plurality of pixels that are lined up in one column, respectively and an optical system 12 which is used to guide at least a portion of the light beams being emitted from the light source 11 to the optical recording medium 1 as reference light beams and to respectively guide reproduced light beams, that are reference light beams modulated by the medium 1, to the first and the second image sensors 13a and 13b. In the sensors 13a and 13b, arrangement directions of the pixels with respect to a reproduced image formed by the reproducing light beams are made different. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
