PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert only data, which should be inserted, surely and accurately in each vertical blanking interval of a signal in each field. SOLUTION: Out of data stored in a teletext data area 21 of SDRAM 6, a teletext controlling unit 5 stores the data in a LinkedList area 22 when a field parity included in a header of the data to be superimposed next agrees with a value, which indicates a field type corresponding to a video signal to be generated next from an AV signal processing unit 7. In an adding unit 8, when a signal of the field is generated from the AV signal processing unit 7, the data stored in the LinkedList area 22 is superimposed with a prescribed horizontal scanning period of the vertical blanking interval of the field signal and generated as an output.
