<p>1317641 Soil stabilisation L B FOSTER CO 15 June 1970 [10 July 1969] 28891/70 Heading E1F A method of compacting soil comprises driving a hollow, open-ended probe into the soil to be compacted while continuously providing the probe with a vertical vibratory component of motion whereby the probe is driven into the soil and the soil is compacted, a portion of the soil to be compacted entering the hollow interior of the pipe, and extracting the probe from the soil whilst continuously providing the probe with a vertical vibratory component of motion to cause further compaction of the soil. Preferably the probe is vibrated at a frequency of up to 10,000 c.p.m., is driven down to the base of the soil to be compacted, and is driven into and extracted from the soil in a regular pattern, e.g. a regular grid pattern having a side length of between 3 and 15 feet, over the area to be compacted.</p> |
