Lock comprises handle(s) (3), rotatably and axially slidably mounted, for actuating locking member, between which and handle is fitted coupling (19) controlled by electronic access control circuit (31,32). The access control circuit is coupled to energizer (47) for temporarily transforming it from current saving sleeping mode to active mode. The energizer is connected to handle for its activatation by axial operation of handle. Preferably energizer is a switch (37) closed by axial motion of handle. Independent claims are included for reliable and battery saving operation.
