A locking mechanism (1) has a cylinder (2) with a matching key (3). The cylinder has a housing around a rotating core (10) with a closing profiled (16) keyway in contact with one or more closing pins (17). The lock further has an electrically-operated closing pin (28) with a tip (28') projecting through a hole (29) into a blocking aperture in the core (10). The lock is also provided with an emergency opening key (39) which may be inserted into the keyway (11) and unlocks the electrically operated closing pin.
