<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which it is made possible to reconcile chargeability with the service life of an apparatus in a developing-concurrent cleaning system using a direct injection charging mechanism in which a small diameter photoreceptor is adopted for apparatus miniaturization. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming method including at least a step of charging a rotatable image carrier by a rotatable charging member which comes in contact with the image carrier while forming a nip section and a step in which electroconductive particles are carried on the image carrier and conveyed to the nip section, when the diameter of the image carrier is represented by LD (mm), LD≤28 (mm), the charging member is an elastic body, and when the surface roughness of the charging member is represented by Ra (μm), the amount of inroad upon the image carrier by δ (μm) and the volume-base 90% diameter of the electroconductive particles by D<SB>90</SB>(μm), the expression: 2×D<SB>90</SB><Ra≤δ is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
