<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the re-transfer amount of a toner image formed on an upstream side at a transfer part. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, toner images formed on a plurality of image carriers are multiply transferred to a body to be transferred at the transfer part by applying transfer voltage to a transfer means, so that a plurality of color images are formed. The apparatus has a stage for obtaining the relationship of a potential difference between the surface of the image carrier and the transfer means and a current value flowing at such a time by applying predecided voltage to the transfer means and simultaneously detecting the current value flowing to the transfer means with respect to the surface of the image carrier electrified to the predecided potential before forming the toner image on the image carrier, and decides the transfer voltage in accordance with the obtained relationship and the electrified amount of color toner already formed on the body to be transferred. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
