PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock for a sliding door, which can be properly operated even if both hands are occupied with something else. SOLUTION: This lock is equipped with an oscillating operation part 3 whose intermediate part is oscillatably journaled on a casing 2 and wherein an action piece 31 is provided on its backside, a cylinder lock 4 for inhibiting the oscillation of the operation part 3, a sliding member 5 which is engaged with the action piece 31 of the operation part 3 and slid by the oscillation of the the operation part 3, and a hook piece 6 which is operated for oscillation by the sliding of the sliding member 5; a rack 51 is formed in the sliding member 5; and a base part of the hook piece 6 is provided with a gear 61 which meshes with the rack 51.
