PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for measuring the thickness of a lens on a processing machine of the lens, and a means for preventing dispersion in outer periphery processing accuracy by the thickness of the lens. SOLUTION: A lens processing machine processes the lens by sandwiching the lens 5 by cup-shaped holders 3 and 4 installed on the opposite ends of a coaxially arrangged and shaft directional position-fixed lower work shaft 1b and a vertically movable upper work shaft 1a. The lens processing machine is characterized by reading a measured value of measuring means, when sandwiching the lens 5 by matching the optical axis with the upper-lower holders 3 and 4, by arranging the measuring means 61, 62 and 53 for measuring a shaft directional position of the upper work shaft. An always constant shape can be processed, without being influenced by dispersion in the thickness of the lens 5, by adopting a processing method for correcting a tool position when processing the upper surface peripheral edge of the lens, on the basis of the thickness of the lens measured by the method.
