PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent of ammonia and/or ammonium ion which can very efficiently remove ammonia and/or ammonium ion from waste water or waste gas and which can display outstanding practicality and economical efficiency and to provide its producing method and its reproducing method. SOLUTION: The absorbent of ammonia and/or ammonium ion consists of an amorphous magnesium phosphate compound obtained by heating trimagnesium phosphate octahydrate (Mg<SB>3</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>-8H<SB>2</SB>O). The producing method of the absorbent in which trimagnesium phosphate octahydrate is subjected to heating treatment at 120°C or more is provided. The reproducing method of the absorbent in which absorbing ability thereof is reproduced by heating ammonia and/or ammonium ion absorbed absorbent at 55°C to 350°C to release ammonia and crystallization water, is also provided.
