PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a higher alcohol type oil-in-water emulsion defoaming agent composition spread quickly and showing excellent defoaming ability without causing flocculation even if being added to a foaming water system or particularly a foaming water system containing a flocculant such as alminum sulfate and polyaluminum chloride or a polyvalent metal ion having flocculating property such as calcium ion, magnesium ion, aluminum ion or the like. SOLUTION: The higher alcohol type oil-in-water defoaming agent composition contains a copolymer containing acrylic acid and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid and/or its water-soluble salt and preferably the copolymer containing acrylic acid and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid has a molar ratio of acrylic acid to 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid in a range of (1:9) to (7:3) and a molecular weight in a range of 3,000 to 5,000,000.
