A method for producing an organic acid from an organic raw material wherein bacterial bodies or a product obtained by treating them are allowed to act on an aqueous reaction fluid containing the organic raw material, characterized in that it comprises recovering an aqueous reaction fluid after reaction, separating bacterial bodies or a product obtained by treating them from the recovered aqueous reaction fluid, and allowing the separated bacterial bodies or a product obtained by treating them to act on a new aqueous reaction fluid, thereby repeatedly using bacterial bodies or a product obtained by treating them. The method allows the production of an organic acid with enhanced efficiency of fermentation.
