<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of which the deterioration of a transfer rate and the rise of a reverse transfer rate due to resistance tolerance variation of an intermediate transfer body are suppressed effectively and with simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus adopting an intermediate transfer system is provided with: an intermediate transfer body 10 to which toner images on image carriers 40Y, 40C, 40M, 40BK are transferred; primary transfer means 62Y, 62C, 62M, 62BK which transfer the toner images on the image carriers to the transfer surface of the intermediate transfer body; and a secondary transfer means 22 which transfers the toner images on the intermediate transfer body to a transfer material. A transfer condition setting means 60 selects and sets an appropriate transfer condition from a table having a plurality of stages according to resistance information which depends on the electric resistance value of the intermediate transfer body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
