<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceiling embedded air conditioner capable of uniforming pulling-up force at each of tips of hanger ropes in the ceiling embedded air conditioner wherein a lifting grill is lifted and lowered by taking up and paying out the hanger ropes by a lifting and lowering device. <P>SOLUTION: This ceiling embedded air conditioner comprises an indoor machine main body 1 mounted in a ceiling, a grill frame 1 comprising an air suction port 12 and a blowout port 13, and mounted at a lower end of the indoor main body, the lifting grill 21 positioned at the suction port of the grill frame in being lifted, and having a detachable filter 22, the plurality of hanger ropes 23, 24, 25 mounted on the lifting grill, the lifting and lowering device 26 for lifting and lowering the lifting grill by taking up and paying out the hanger ropes, and frictional resistance loading devices 37, 38, 39 for applying the frictional resistance to the hanger ropes.
