PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic still camera in which a power source is turned on when a memory card is inserted. SOLUTION: In the main body 10 of the electronic still camera which includes an imaging device 2, a signal processing block 3 and a power control unit 5 and in which a memory card 8 can be inserted, when the memory card 8 is inserted into the main body 10 of the electronic still camera, the power source in the main body 10 of the electronic still camera is turned on by the power control unit 5.
