PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser device which can suppress the quantity of a laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser device and can drive a VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser diode) at a high speed. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser device 20 has a metallic stem 30 for mounting at least one semiconductor laser element (VCSEL) 1 thereon, and a cap 40 mounted on the metallic stem 30 to define an inner space with the metallic stem 30. The cap 40 is formed with a light exit window 44, and the window 44 is provided with a laminate of a light transmitting glass 46 and a neutral density filter 48.
