PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set capable of reducing power consumption at the time of waiting in the case of simultaneously performing waiting by a plurality of radio communication methods. SOLUTION: An antenna switch 12 is a high frequency switch composed of a plurality of diodes, and selects either a radio communication method A or a radio communication method B according to a switching control signal 15. Radio equipment 13 for the system A and radio equipment 14 for the method B correspond to the radio communication method A and the radio communication method B respectively to transmit and receive a message to/from a base station through an antenna 11. A CPU 15 controls the antenna switch 12 that normally turns off the diodes and performs switching control that selects a corresponding radio communication method only when the monitoring level of a received electric field of each radio communication method is less than a prescribed level.
