PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit capable of speedily and stably performing fine seeking without using a speed sensor. SOLUTION: The optical disk device reading the data recorded in the track on an optical disk by making an optical pickup travel by a drive motor 6 is provided with: a traveling speed arithmetic circuit 42 for calculating the traveling speed of the optical pickup based on the tracking error signal generated by the optical pickup when the optical disk traverses the track of the optical disk; a learning table for learning an error speed between a target speed and a traveling speed of the optical pickup in accordance with the number of remaining tracks when the number of remaining tracks to the number of target traveling tracks of the optical pickup becomes less than the specified number of tracks and the optical pickup is decelerated; and an error correction circuit 48 for controlling the drive motor 6 by using the error speed learnt from the learning table.
