PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem in which a vertical position on a screen needs to be adjusted when the phase of a sampling clock of an A/D converter is detected since a PC possibly has the different number of vertical scanning lines of an output image. SOLUTION: An image display apparatus generates a vertical gate signal on the basis of counts of horizontal synchronism and vertical synchronism in an input signal and detects the clock phases of A/D converters 4 to 6 on the basis of the gate signal to make phase adjustments.
