PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a slug attractant and a slug repellent. SOLUTION: The slug attractant and the slug repellent comprise a liquid as an active ingredient that is obtained by fermenting malt, Humulus lupulus and water as main raw materials to give fermented liquor (e.g. beer or sparkling liquor) and heat-treating (boiling) the fermented liquor. The slug attractant and the slug repellent are inexpensive, hardly cause problems such as deterioration, putrefaction, offensive smell, etc., and have excellent storage stability. Damages, for example, to a vegetable, a fruit and a flowering plant by slug are prevented by putting the slug attractant and the slug repellent in a slug catching and killing tool and a slug catching tool and allowing the tools to stand in the area of slug infestation.
