PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable observation of a microorganism carrier and reduce odor in a garbage disposer. SOLUTION: The garbage disposer is provided with a microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 containing a microorganism carrier 26; a stirring means 23 built in the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21; a suction port 32 and an exhaust port 30 provided on an upper part of the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21; and a ventilation fan 31 corresponding to the exhaust port 30, and is constituted such that after charge of the garbage 27 is detected, driving of the stirring means 23 is forbidden for a predetermined period. Thereby, even when a large amount of garbage 27 and garbage 27 containing a high moisture content are charged, decomposition performance of dried garbage 27 can be continued. Sufficient ventilation property at the microorganism decomposition treatment part 21 can be ensured by air introduced from the suction port 32 and the decomposition performance of the dried garbage 27 with less odor can be continued.
