<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information read method for surely reading optical information displayed on a liquid crystal display screen. <P>SOLUTION: The optical information read method includes: a step S2 of detecting minimum values and maximum values of gray value image data captured in a memory through an image sensor in the orders of their appearances; a step S3 of detecting the difference between a minimum value and a maximum value adjacent to each other in a detected group of the minimum values and maximum values as lightness difference data; a step S5 of classifying a group of the lightness difference data by each lightness difference layer set in the step S4 to detect the frequency distribution of the appearance frequency of the lightness difference data by each lightness difference layer; a step S6 of dividing the gray value image captured in the memory into a noise component and a read object on the basis of the characteristic of the frequency distribution of the appearance frequency of the lightness difference data; and a step S7 of thresholding the gray value image data divided into the read object on the basis of a preset threshold value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
