PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fullerene derivative useful as an electron-transporting material, a semiconductor, a physiologically active substance, etc., and excellent in stability under air, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This fullerene derivative is characterized by having a partial structure expressed by general formula (I) (wherein, C<SB>1</SB>to C<SB>8</SB>expresses carbon atoms constituting the fullerene skeleton: C<SB>6</SB>to C<SB>8</SB>each independently bonds with a 1-50C organic groups; and the C<SB>1</SB>bonds with a 1-20C alkyl which may have a substituent).
