PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter capable of keeping stability of a power factor improving circuit. SOLUTION: The power converter converts an AC voltage outputted from an AC commercial power supply 31 into a DC voltage, and outputs it through a capacitor 35. An input current detecting means 36 is composed of a series/parallel circuit of at least one resistance element and an impedance control element Q1. An impedance control unit 42 continuously controls an impedance of the impedance control element of the input current detecting means according to an output of the input current detecting means 36.
