PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device and its image processing method in which a monitor target is surely photographed while complementing the lack of exposure by automatically judging the lack of exposure and appropriately performing pixel adding processing. SOLUTION: In the image pickup device including image pickup parts 11, 12, 13 each for picking up an image and outputting image information, a judging part 20 for judging whether or not pixel adding processing is to be performed for the image information on the basis of the photometric result of the image information, a pixel adding part 16 which applies pixel adding processing to the image information when it is judged to perform pixel adding processing, and transmitting parts 18, 19 for transmitting pixel added image information to the outside, pixel adding processing is automatically performed when exposure is lacked, even without judging pixel adding processing and giving its instruction every time by a user.
