PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for optical parts having excellent transparency, optical characteristics, mechanical characteristics, thermal characteristics and chemical resistance, and also to provide optical parts prepared from the resin composition. SOLUTION: The composition for optical parts contains a polyhydroxy ether polymer having the repeating structural unit expressed by formula (1), where R1 and R2 are each independently an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a phenyl group or a halogen atom, m and n are each independently integers of 0-4, and R3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.
