<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, facilitating paper jam clearing by mounting a roller at the terminal end of a transport path. <P>SOLUTION: A roller 15 is provided at the terminal end of an outer peripheral guide 13a constituting a U-turn paper feed path 13. The top surface of the outer peripheral guide 13a constitutes a part of the base of a storing part 57. When a paper jam occurs in the transport path of the paper feed path 13, a front cover 55 is opened to take out a process cartridge from the front of a casing. A wide space in the storing part 57 secured at this time is used to draw out the jammed paper exposed from the paper feed path 13 to the outside. Although the transport direction of the paper sheet 3 and the direction of drawing out the jammed paper make an acute angle with the roller 15 interposed between them in the terminal end position of the paper feed path 13, it is possible to prevent a trouble of breaking the jammed paper in the course of clearing the jammed paper because the jammed paper is drawn out with the inside surface of the jammed paper abutting on the roller 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
