<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively apply a reverse bias voltage to an EL element without lowering the illumination time rate of an active matrix type EL display device. <P>SOLUTION: The EL element 1 constituting one pixel 10 is driven by a write transistor Tr1 and a driving transistor Tr2 to illuminate, and has its illumination time controlled by an erasure transistor Tr3 to realize multi-gradation representation. The drain of a reverse bias applying transistor Tr4 is connected to an anode terminal of the EL element E1, and the gate and source of the transistor Tr4 are connected to gates of the erasure transistor Tr3 and write transistor Tr1 respectively. With this constitution, the reverse bias applying transistor Tr4 is turned on in synchronism with an ON operation of the erasure transistor Tr3 to supply a reverse bias voltage to the EL element E1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
