<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus enabling decrease in the number of recording papers to be consumed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a read part for reading a plurality of originals, an image memory for storing image data of the read originals, and a storage part for extracting an image area including an image portion and a blank area including a blank portion from the image data and for storing their sizes. An image area which is settled within a blank area in certain one piece of image data, an image area which is settled by reducing the image data just for a predetermined reduction power, or an image area which is settled by rotating the image data at 90° is searched in the other image data and when there is such an image area, its image portion is moved to said blank portion and composed to update synthesized image data.
