PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processor which forms a coefficient conversion table with a degree of freedom in accordance with the user's taste or features of an image to effectively convert image components. SOLUTION: In the image processor, a frequency component decomposing means separates input image signals into image components in a plurality of frequency bands, a parameter input means inputs any number of base points and the coordinates of the base points for forming a conversion curve, an interpolating means spline-interpolates the conversion curve based on parameters inputted by the parameter input means, a discontinuous point correcting means smoothes the curve interpolated by the interpolating means, a coefficient converting means converts coefficients of the image components after forming a coefficient conversion table based on the curve formed by the correcting means, and a restoring means combines the coefficients of the image components converted by the coefficient converting means.
