PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precise car navigation device easy to mount. SOLUTION: A camera for photographing a speed meter, a shift position lamp, and a side brake alarm lamp on the front panel part of an automobile is set. An image taken by the camera part is subjected to an image recognition processing in a CPU to detect the present vehicle speed, shift position and side brake on/off state. The obtained vehicle speed, shift position and side brake on/off state are used as complementary data, when information from a GPS satellite cannot be obtained, to perform a map drawing.
