PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire for a wire harness in which weight reduction and cost reduction can be attained, and which is superior in flexibility. SOLUTION: This electric wire has a conductor 10, an insulating layer 30 formed outward of the conductor 10, and a shield layer 50 formed outward of the insulating layer 30, and the shield layer 50 is exposed to the outer surface. Since a sheath of the electric wire for the wire harness is eliminated and the shield layer 50 is exposed to the outermost layer of the electric wire, the weight reduction and the cost reduction can be attained by saving a sheath material and the abbreviation of a sheath formation process. Furthermore, by the abbreviation of the sheath, the outer diameter of the electric wire can be reduced and the flexibility of the electric wire is improved, and handling when mounted in an automobile can be facilitated.
