PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire rubber composition which is not lowered in abrasion resistance, but allows improvement in driving on ice, steering stability, and block break resistance, and a tire using the same. SOLUTION: The tire rubber composition comprises a pumice having a silicon oxide content of 30% by mass or more and has a JIS-A hardness of 55-75, wherein 50% by mass or more of the pumice has preferably a particle size of 45-250μm, and the pumice is preferably added at 2-20 pts by mass relative to 100 pts by mass of rubber. The rubber composition contains preferably a silane coupling agent together with the pumice. The tire uses the rubber composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
