PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-pack curing type water-based resin composition that can markedly improve water resistance, solvent resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical properties and provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the two-pack curing type water-based resin composition, a solution of a polycarbodiimide compound bearing a hydrophobic group on the molecular chain ends in an organic solvent is prepared as a curing agent and separately another solution of a polyurethane prepolymer bearing an isocyanate group on the molecular chain ends as well as a neutralized anionic group in an organic solvent is prepared as a main agent precursor solution. Then, these curing agent solution and the main agent precursor solution are mixed and the mixture is combined with water and a polyamine whereby the polyurethane prepolymer is chain-extended to prepare the main agent comprising hydrophilic polyurethane compound bearing anionic group and simultaneously the curing agent is incorporated inside by the main agent.
