<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the local increase of brightness of light generated from a point light source in the vicinity thereof, and to prevent the overall lowering of brightness at the light emission surface of a light guide body. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device 3 has a light source 42 emitting light, and a light guide body 39 receiving the light from the light source 42 at an incident surface 39a and emitting the light at a light emitting surface. An optical pattern composed of continuous prism faces 61 and flat surfaces 62 is formed on the incident surface 39a. Not any local area with high brightness in the vicinity of the LED 42 is generated on the light guide body 39 since the light emitted from the light source 42 is diffused in a planer direction by the optical pattern.
