PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make easily recognizable the distance from a present position to a guidance spot. SOLUTION: This navigation system has an information acquiring/processing means, a display processing means, and a guidance processing means for performing course guidance for a driver. The guidance processing means displays an own vehicle position display mark expressing a present position when a vehicle is run along a prescribed course, and displays a residual distance display area for displaying a residual distance from the present position to the prescribed guidance spot so that it follows the display mark. Since the display area for displaying the residual distance from the present position to the guidance spot is displayed so as to follow the display mark, the residual distance can be easily recognized while recognizing the shape of a road along which the vehicle is run and the state of the guidance spot.
