PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system, capable of changing over positioning means according to the condition of radio wave reception from GPS satellites, and sophisticatedly and continuously detecting the location of one's car. SOLUTION: The navigation system for vehicle is provided with both a first positioning means using a code phase and a second positioning means using a carrier phase and executes positioning, by changing over between the first positioning means and the second positioning means, according to the condition of the radio wave reception transmitted from the GPS satellites. Since the navigation system can executes positioning, by changing over to a preferable means between the first positioning means and the second positioning means according to the condition of radio wave reception from the GPS satellites, detect the location of one's car can be detected accurately at all times, regardless of the condition of radio wave reception. In particular, since the second positioning means executes positioning through the use of a carrier phase, positioning accuracy can be improved more than previously and can detect the location of one's car.
