DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an animation blur which occurs in an animation display operation and deterioration in image quality caused by the blur, in a hold type display device such as a liquid crystal display device, without damaging the display luminance of an animation. SOLUTION: Video data inputted to the display device at each line in response to a horizontal synchronizing signal is successively written in the pixel array of the display device N times (N is a natural number being two or more) by one line. Whenever the writing is performed, an operation for successively writing blanking data for reducing luminance in the pixel array M times (M is the natural number being smaller than N) is repeated. The horizontal scanning period of video data for the portion of N lines is applied for (N+M) times data writing to the pixel array. The writing is performed by making a horizontal feedback period in data writing to the pixel array to be shorter than that included in the horizontal scanning period of video data. An interval in the pixel array between pixel rows where N times video data are written and the pixel rows where M times blanking data are written is adjusted by a scanning start signal for starting respective pixel row selecting operations.
