PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container terminal allowing improvement in cargo handling efficiency and reduction in the number of facilities, and a container cargo handling method. SOLUTION: The container terminal T comprises an apron 1 having a container crane 10 for performing cargo handling of a container C to a container ship S and a marshalling yard 2 that has a yard crane 20 and accumulates a plurality of containers C stacked on many stages. An area where a cargo handling capable range of the container crane 10 and a cargo handling capable range of the yard crane 20 are overlapped is disposed, and a container temporarily placing space 3 for temporarily placing the container C on the way of cargo work is formed under the area.
