PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent appearance of a grid pattern on a radiographic image. SOLUTION: The subject mammography apparatus comprises an X-ray tube 11, a radiographing table 13 disposed to face the X-ray tube, having an X-ray detection part 120, a presser 14 for pressing a breast M of a subject against the radiographing table, and a grid 110 disposed on the X-ray incident side of the X-ray detection part, movable parallel to the X-ray detection part. The mammography apparatus also has a grid speed control part 24 for controlling the moving speed of the grid so that one time of a radiograph by applying X rays from the X-ray tube is completed while the grid is moved in one direction. Accordingly, as one time of the radiograph can be completed while the grid is continuously moved in one direction only, appearance of the grid pattern on the radiographic image as an artifact can be prevented and the quality of the radiographic image can be improved.
