Device involves pre-treating the supplied rubbish fractions by pulverizing, drying and or sieving. The resulting material stream is imaged using an X-ray source and a linear detector unit. The latter is linked to a computer unit that evaluates the resultant images. A control unit controls compressed air jets that sort the material into different outlets from the conveyer belt according to whether the material is organic or inorganic.
