The transmission filter has a narrowband filter (6) which comprises at least one unwanted pass point at wavelengths outside a desired passband. A diffraction grating (7) is placed after the narrowband filter to couple these wavelengths out of the illumination beam path. An independent claim is included for an illumination device for a microscope.
