<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a transfer roller from being soiled because residual toner adhering to a photoreceptor drum adheres to the transfer roller. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises the photoreceptor drum 21, a scorotron charger 23, an LSU 24, the transfer roller 29 for forming a nip part with the drum 21, a rotating brush 35 abutting on the drum 21 on a more downstream side in the rotating direction of the drum 21 than the roller 29, and a transfer voltage application circuit 30 for electrifying the surface of the drum 21 by applying voltage having a reverse polarity to that at the time of transfer processing to the roller 29 in a period when no recording paper exists at the nip part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
