PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus capable of properly detecting a burst signal in the case of utilizing a burst detection window to detect the burst signal.

SOLUTION: A reception level measurement circuit 29 in a base station measures a reception level of a DMF burst signal for a DMF interval, the burst signal transmitted from a participation station to the base station on request from the base station and allows a maximum value storage circuit 28 to store a maximum value with respect to the reception level, and an AGC 27 adjusts a variable gain amplifier 21 at an optimum gain on the basis of the measured value from the reception level maximum value storage circuit 28 when no burst is detected in the DMF interval and a demodulator 24 cannot carry out demodulation.
