A novel compound (and inorganic and organic salts thereof) of the formula is prepared by the interaction of 2-aza-bicyclo- [2,2,2]-octane or an alkali metal derivative thereof and p-nitrophenyl-sulphonyl isocyanate or a reactive functional derivative of a carbamic acid of formula p-R-phenyl-SO 2 NH.COOH, wherein R represents an amino group or a group which can be converted to an amino group by hydrolysis reduction or reductive cleavage, and thereafter if necessary hydrolysing or reducing the product so obtained. Pharmaceutical preparations have a hypoglycaemic action, contain as active ingredient the above novel compounds and may be administered orally or parenterally.
