PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set in which a plurality of telephone numbers of communicating parties are registered in different memories and communicating parties can be automatically connected using the registered plurality of telephone numbers. SOLUTION: When a request of call origination to a communicating party is inputted via a keyboard 104, a control circuit 105 in a portable telephone set 100 reads an automatic connection enable/disable signal that is stored together with a telephone number of a company of the communicating party, is read from a memory (1)106, and identifies the type of an exchange of the communicating party on the basis of the read automatic connection enable/disable signal. The control circuit 105 then reads the telephone number of the company and an extension telephone number from the memory (1)106 and a memory (2)107, transmits the read telephone number of the company and extension telephone number according to a scheme that is determined in accordance with the identified type of the exchange, and connects a line with the communicating party.
